Facilities

The Olive Tree began life in a small house near the Sitges beach, with the aim of providing a warm environment where learning was incredibly exciting. Now, fourteen years later, we have spacious premises with beautiful grassy gardens, a science lab, two ICT rooms, a busy art studio, two peaceful, plant-filled libraries, several outdoor classrooms, two thriving vegetable plots and an indoor and outdoor theatre. There are also two ancient olive trees to read under or to climb! We may have grown but our aims remain the same: excitement for the world of ideas and learning is our priority for all ages. Additionally, we have small classes to ensure your child’s learning is personalised, and to provide the best emotional support as your child grows. In the local community, we are known for our creative approach: our gallery of artwork, our theatre productions, our concerts and our engineering projects where maths comes to life. We are also committed to regular Forest School, fieldwork and other outdoor learning. And, when young adults complete their time with us at 16, our exam results are well above the UK average…the result of an environment where learning is everyone’s passion.

Student Support

What learning needs the school can support

In cases where children require additional assistance with their learning, our specialized teachers conduct assessments to determine their needs. Subsequently, a personal support program for them is agreed with parents. This may be short-term speech therapy, aid for dyslexia, or a comprehensive ongoing program designed to address more complex learning challenges. Support programmes are regularly reviewed, and parents are kept up to date with progress and any changes required to the learning & support plan. There is a regular liaison between those responsible for individual support & the regular class teachers and online activities to consolidate individual support tutoring.

To optimise the learning experience for exceptionally gifted children, individual support is also provided. Pupils are assessed, and mentoring is provided to ensure they are stretched appropriately and that they are able to express and develop their skills.

What support staff are available

We have a Speech and Language therapist that families can pay for. We have a special educational needs coordinators who overseas the children at the school.
