St PETER'S SCHOOL
St PETER’S SCHOOL is the only school in Barcelona offering the full International Baccalaureate Continuum taught entirely in English. The school delivers the three IB programmes: Primary Years Programme (PYP), Middle Years Programme (MYP), and Diploma Programme (DP), ensuring a coherent and rigorous educational journey from early childhood to pre-university education.
A distinctive feature of St PETER’S is its strong commitment to scientific inquiry from the earliest stages. It is the only school in the city with a dedicated Science Lab for Early Years, reflecting a belief that curiosity, experimentation, and critical thinking should be cultivated from the start. This philosophy extends throughout the curriculum, with the school being a pioneer in introducing subjects such as artificial intelligence, blockchain, and nanoscience.
Science and technology at St PETER’S are not taught in isolation. Equal importance is placed on human skills: critical thinking, creativity, ethical awareness, and empathy. Art, philosophy, and interdisciplinary learning play a central role in preparing students to navigate complexity and uncertainty with both competence and humanity.
This balanced and forward-looking approach has positioned St PETER’S SCHOOL as a national reference in international education, earning recognition as the best school in Spain by Forbes magazine.

Welcome Note
Choosing a school is a deeply personal decision, and often one that begins earlier than we ever imagine. At St PETER’S SCHOOL, we welcome children from the age of one, accompanying families from those very first steps through to the Diploma Programme and beyond.
As the only school in Barcelona offering the full International Baccalaureate Continuum taught in English, we believe in a coherent educational journey, where curiosity, confidence, and critical thinking grow naturally over time. From our Science Lab in the early years to advanced programmes in technology, science, and the humanities, learning is built with intention and care.
What matters most to us is the human side of education. Every child is known. Every family is listened to. St PETER'S is an Open School. Creativity, empathy, and ethical thinking are part of daily life, not abstract ideals. In Admissions, my role is to guide families with honesty and warmth, helping you decide whether St PETER’S is the right place for your child and for your family.

School Ethos
At St PETER’S SCHOOL, they believe that high expectations and humanity must go together. They are a demanding school, academically and intellectually, but never at the expense of care, curiosity, or respect for each student’s individuality. Learning is rigorous, thoughtful, and purposeful, guided by the conviction that excellence is best achieved in an environment where students feel supported, challenged, and understood.
Education at St PETER’S is holistic by design. Their approach to STEAM places science and technology in constant dialogue with the arts, humanities, and philosophy. Scientific thinking, creativity, ethical reflection, and emotional intelligence are not separate domains, but interconnected ways of understanding the world. From early experimentation in our Science Lab for one-year-olds to advanced projects in artificial intelligence, design, and critical inquiry, students are encouraged to connect knowledge across disciplines and apply it meaningfully.
They define themselves as an Open School. Learning does not happen in isolation, nor does it remain confined to the classroom. Collaboration, dialogue, and engagement with the wider world are central to our ethos. Students are invited to question assumptions, explore diverse perspectives, and participate actively in their own learning process. Families are seen as partners, and education as a shared, evolving conversation.
Innovation at St PETER’S is always future-oriented, but never uncritical. New technologies and emerging fields are integrated thoughtfully into the curriculum, with an emphasis on understanding their impact, limitations, and ethical implications. They prepare students not only to use technology, but to question it, shape it, and respond to it responsibly.
Teaching is grounded in strong relationships. Teachers act as guides and mentors, adapting their methods to different learning rhythms while maintaining high standards. Assessment supports reflection and growth rather than simple performance.
Our future-based approach is, above all, human-centred. They aim to educate young people who think deeply, act ethically, and remain curious throughout their lives. In a world defined by change and complexity, they believe that a demanding, holistic, and open education is the most meaningful preparation for what lies ahead.

Curriculum
St PETER’S SCHOOL follows the International Baccalaureate (IB) Continuum, offering a coherent educational pathway taught entirely in English from the age of one through to pre-university level.
Early Years and Primary Years Programme (PYP)
From the age of one, learning is inquiry-based, experiential, and developmentally appropriate. Children learn through exploration, play, and guided discovery, building strong foundations in language, social development, and early scientific thinking. The presence of a Science Lab for Early Years reflects our belief that curiosity and experimentation should begin early. The IB Primary Years Programme encourages students to ask questions, make connections, and develop independence, creativity, and confidence.
Middle Years Programme (MYP)
In the Middle Years, students follow the IB MYP, which promotes interdisciplinary learning and critical thinking. Subjects are connected through real-world contexts, allowing students to understand how knowledge applies beyond the classroom. Scientific and technological learning is strengthened through project-based work, including exposure to fields such as artificial intelligence and design. Arts, humanities, and reflection remain essential parts of the curriculum, ensuring a balanced and holistic education.
Diploma Programme (DP)
In the final stage, students complete the IB Diploma Programme, a rigorous and internationally recognised pre-university qualification. The DP develops strong academic knowledge alongside research, ethical thinking, and global awareness through components such as Theory of Knowledge, the Extended Essay, and Creativity, Activity, Service (CAS). Students are prepared for university and for thoughtful engagement with the world beyond school.
Qualifications
IB Diploma (International Baccalaureate); MYP certificate after the E-Assessment in MYP5; Spanish Primary Education Certificate, and Spanish Secondary Education Certificate; Cambridge ESOL certifications.

Admissions
Details of entry criteria
The admissions process at St PETER’S SCHOOL is designed to be transparent, thoughtful, and personal. Our aim is to ensure that the school is the right fit for each student and their family.
1. Personal Interview with the Family
The process begins with a personal interview conducted by the Admissions team with both the family and the student candidate. This meeting allows us to present the philosophy of the school, explain the programmes offered, and better understand the student’s needs, interests, and educational background. For families living abroad, virtual interviews are available.
2. Candidate Assessment
Each application is reviewed holistically. The assessment includes a personal interview with the candidate, the academic transcript from the previous school, and references from that school. When considered necessary, the student may be asked to complete an entrance test.
Families of students with learning difficulties, or other specific educational requirements, must inform the Admissions team at the start of the application process so that these can be carefully considered.
Completion of all assessment requirements is mandatory for an application to be evaluated.
3. Acceptance and Enrolment
Once a student is accepted, families are required to complete the enrolment documentation and proceed with the corresponding tuition and related payments. In the event that no immediate place is available, the Admissions team will work proactively to resolve the situation as soon as possible.
Preference is given to families already part of the school community and to students with strong academic and personal references.
Details of entry tests
Entry tests are compulsory for the Diploma Programme. In Early grades, the school decides if they are necessary once the student has provided the previous academic reports and references, and has visited the school.
Further Information
The school recommends in-person visits whenever possible, so families can experience the atmosphere firsthand and see for themselves whether the school’s ethos aligns with what they are looking for.
